A few years ago, I started what I thought would be a sweet romance on my parent’s interesting love story, but like normal, I got about twenty pages in and didn’t know where to take it. A week or two later, my husband and I were attending a local 5k (he ran, but I always walked while pushing my youngest in the stroller). As I pulled my daughter out of the car seat, I saw a woman across the way holding a sign that said: “I love my reproductive rights.”
It broke my heart and got me thinking about what I could do to inform people about the truth of abortion. I had long been a pro-life advocate as my grandmother was told she needed to abort my mother or it would kill her. It didn’t, and my grandmother lived until I was ten.
That night when I got home, I put my kids to bed as normal and then climbed into bed. I thought about writing but had nothing on my mind, so after praying I turned off the light and went to sleep. The next morning, I had words about a story with a pro-life focus. I tried to ignore the words, but they kept coming, so I finally opened up my laptop and let the words flow.
A month later, my book The Power of Prayer (the first in the Heartbeats series) was finished. Where It All Began and When Hearts Collide followed shortly thereafter. These books, while Christian, do deal with people making poor life choices and having to recover from them. While writing the fourth book, A Father’s Love, I started a new Christian romance series with less of a pro-life focus.
In addition to my adult romances, I also have a kids’ series. These books were inspired when my son started reading. There are three out currently in the Wishing Stone series: Dangerous Dinosaur, Dragon Dilemma, and Mesmerizing Mermaids. I am also finishing book 4.
Thanks for stopping in and letting me share my story with you.
