I want to welcome Tom Mboya on Behind every Story. Tom and I have touched through Cyber space for a while now. He's a talented author and unique in that he writes many things, poems are no exception.
Born in 1969, the fifth child amongst 8 siblings, I attended Kipkelion Primary school in Kericho, Kenya before subsequently proceeding to Oriwo High School and Kijabe Mixed High School respectively.
While I was a student of literature in English when I was taking my Advanced level studies, disaster stuck in form of an obsession with country music, pop literature, and poetry. At the end of my course, my final examination results were equally disastrous. I failed to score the requisite grades that could enable me proceed to university.
After a two-year spell of deep depression, my interest finally firmly settled on one notion…becoming a writer. I consequently devoted my time and energies in the study of literature, and for the next 5 years, from 1989 to 19393 I devolved into all sorts of literature from every part of the world.
In December 1993, I decided that it was time to convert my dream into reality. I started writing, the culmination of which are my two current publications, Beyond the Horizon, my first novel and a collection of romantic love poems – Luscious Love in Tender Blossoms ( A Letter to my Beloved)
The poems in this collection are all romantic in nature. They are predicated on the poet's own real life experiences. Love and romance are subjects close to everyone's heart despite age, race, religion ,or geographical location. The symbolism and images used in the poems in this book are largely drawn from the beauty of nature. Nature itself is an expression of God's love and creative power; in the same way natural beauty is a poetic expression of love and harmony. The poet uses nature to express natural love. Enjoy.

intriguing novel from Tom is titled, Beyond the Horizons.
Beyond the Horizons
Delving into the rot and decay that infested the socio-political landscape in most African states in the 80s and 90s, Beyond the Horizon is a twin-plotted story set in the backdrop of the genocide in Rwanda, and a chaotic social and cultural scene in Kenya.
It revolves around Victor, the main protagonist who finds himself in a conflicting situation of not knowing what his true identity is and his dire need to fit in somewhere in his adopted family. When still young, he rebels and runs away from his foster parents who had subjected him to cruelty. He ends up on the streets of Nairobi where hunger and cold nights threaten to end his life. But through a twist of fate, he is luckily rescued and taken to hospital after a road accident that nearly destroys his life. Later, a nurse adopts him, but through another strange twist of events fuelled by the fear of being forced to go back to his parents, young Victor is instead persuaded to escape with Isabel, a rich but childless lady.
All along, through rumours overheard from friends, Victor has always known he comes from a place called Rwanda. Forced to leave Isabel’s home due to her incestuous overtures, Victor finds himself a victim of homelessness and odd jobs once more until a hare-brained scheme to manage a gold mine they hatch with his friends leads him to the middle of nowhere.
In Rwanda, Angelo Mperenza who later turns out to be Victor’s real father works hard to start a movement for peace after maliciously being dismissed from the military and seeing his family destroyed through the vengeance of an army general who does not like him. The general forcefully takes his wife and ensures that his two daughters are denied education at a military academy. When a movement for peace her father had earlier started is taken out of his control and turned into an underground resistance, the older girl ends up enlisting as a child soldier.
The events that follow spell doom for many. Both of his daughters are killed and he is forced to flee from Rwanda.
Woven into Victor & Angelo’s story there are fundamental issues and events that portray a society grappling with the exigencies of obsolete health and educational institutions. Thrown in the mix are issues of love, sexuality, domestic violence, fate and destiny, and the rationale of Divine justice (if ever there is any) when the contradictory circumstances that many of the characters find themselves in challenge all that they believe in and expect to happen.
Thank you all, if for nothing else but mere following the links above. And God bless you immensely, Mary.
Tom, I enjoyed having you on Behind Every Story. I also want to share a wonderful poem Tom wrote.
The Touch of Ceaseless Affection
Your presence is like the radiance of the,
Sun's golden rays piercing the mistiness of
My heart’s chill,
Which, like a dreary morning;
Clouds my emotions,
In dark billowy feelings of despair.
But, you my gentle love,
You come along bearing a
Sweet effervescence, which,
Like the fresh fragrance of a spring evening,
Still drapes my heart in layers of sweet warm sensations,
Of love, and ceaseless affection,
That caresses my inner parts,
With the sublime softness of angelic touch.
I know Tom would enjoy hearing from readers. Any questions for Tom?
Ask away. :)
I'd like to welcome Peggy Trotter, a fellow Prism Book Group author to Behind Every Story.
She's a small town Hoosier native who teaches 1st and 2nd grade at a small Christian School and writes Christian Romance in her spare time. God blessed her with a wonderful husband who cooks and helps clean while supporting her crazy dreams. She has two incredible grown kids, one fabulous son-in-law, and two rays of sunshine, commonly called grandchildren.
The empty-nest syndrome set her to groping for a new direction, and wow, did God answer! Year of Jubilee, a Christian Historical Romance set in southern Indiana, debuted on April 10th of 2015 through Prism Book Group. A second, a Contemporary Romance entitled, Reviving Jules, will follow on Oct. 9th, 2015 as well. She loves to reveal God's miracles through the world's underdogs and mix in a little love and happy endings.
She finaled in the Indiana Golden Opportunity Contest in 2013 in the Inspirational Category, and is a 2014 ACFW Genesis Winner in the Novella Category. Seldom does she stand still, but when she does, it's to praise her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Creator of all gifts and Bestower of all blessings!
